In the second Film Noir Class at the Sie Film Center we saw Double Indemnity, directed by Billy Wilder in 1944, and starring Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck.

A classic noir film, I had seen this one before, but it was great to see it on the big screen. One thing the teacher pointed out was that Fred MacMurray was wearing a wedding ring, even though he was playing a character who was single.

A few weeks after this class, I was delighted to hear Norman and Norma Bates talk about this film in an episode of Bates Motel. In an episode entitled Meltdown, they were discussing watching it, even though they had already seen it "hundreds of times."

It's a little difficult to imagine someone watching a movie "hundreds of times," but not totally out of character for those two!
